How to Calculate Your Weighted Grade
A weighted grade calculation multiplies each assignment score by its weight percentage, sums all the weighted scores, then divides by the total weight. For example, if your homework (weight 20%) score is 90% and your exam (weight 80%) score is 70%, your final grade is (90ร0.20 + 70ร0.80) = 18 + 56 = 74%. This is why doing well on high-weight assignments like final exams matters so much.
If your weights do not add up to 100%, the calculator still gives you an accurate result by dividing the sum of weighted scores by the total weight entered. This handles situations where you have not yet completed all assignments for the semester.
What Score Do I Need to Pass?
To find the score you need on an upcoming assignment, subtract your current weighted score from your target grade, then divide by the remaining assignment weight. Our calculator does this automatically โ just enter your current grades and weights, and it tells you exactly what you need to score on the final to achieve each letter grade.
